Dear EAGEN council, Members and Supporters:
We hope everyone has started the New Year 2021 well and healthy. 2020 marked the 50th anniversary of the EAGEN. In February, unbeknown to us the impact COVID19 would eventually have, the Society was able to commemorate this historical occasion with a celebratory postgraduate course in Padova, Italy. Immediately thereafter the global pandemic spread and caused havoc, putting forth tremendous challenges on everyone. As chairman of the EAGEN, I am excited to state our Society has nevertheless continued the important task of providing education in GI throughout Europe. Although necessary changes in operation became imperative, the EAGEN was able to successfully conduct 5 top-notch postgraduate courses in a hybrid format with an audience of over 1000 participants from more than 20 countries and continue its hands-on endoscopy courses. The landscape of virtual components to postgraduate teaching has brought vast and new elements and opportunities. The EAGEN remains committed to continue the path of postgraduate education in European Gastroenterology and will soon announce activities for 2021. We invite you to visit our EVENT page for news on upcoming postgraduate courses. Please stay connected and please stay safe.

It is the aim of the EAGEN to present interactive and highly professional teaching events on diseases of the digestive system and to provide educational exchange platforms to further expand and update the knowledge in Gastroenterology. Diseases of the digestive system are complex and often require a multidisciplinary approach.
